How Flourishing Faith started

How I started.

In 2014 I started as a small wedding stationery studio, designing and hand making wedding invitations etc.
I absolutely loved it and I still love wedding stationery, however I wanted to  make something that is not just beautiful for a once-off event but something that is a bit more functional and useful in everyday life. The wedding stationery then evolved into designing and making notebooks, daily planners, journals and other stationery.
But ever since I started making planners and journals a Scripture Journal was in the back of my head and on my heart. I delayed creating a Scripture journal because it felt so personal to me and to be honest because I was scared to put myself “out-there” and my faith was lacking.
Over time I became compelled to create a scripture journal and during the time spent working on this journal the LORD worked within my heart. This is how and when I realised that I should not just incorporate a range of faith based products into my existing business but that I should start afresh and that I should just take the leap and start a “Christian faith based business” focusing on tools and products to help others, and myself, to grow and to cultivate a deeper understanding, knowledge and fervent love for our LORD and His Word.  In August 2019 I officially launched my very first word & prayer journal, the Selah – Scripture Journal! In October 2019 I officially changed the business name and vision and this marked the start of Flourishing Faith.

Why I started

“Your statutes are my delight; they are my counselors” Ps119:24 NIV
“The law from your mouth is more precious to me than thousands of pieces of silver and gold” Ps 119:72 NIV
A.W Tozer wrote in his book The knowledge of the Holy that “What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us”. How we see and think about God is probably the most determining influence of our life. God chose to reveal Himself, His character and His will to us through scripture, if we neglect the word of God it will be ever more difficult to know our LORD and to act according to His will.
I am very passionate about the Bible, I love reading it, studying it and delving deeper into it because it is only in the pages of God’s word that we learn to know God Himself and His purposes.
It’s not always easy or fun and enjoyable to read the Bible but it is always good, it will always accomplish what God sent it for and it is only through scripture that a servant of God is equipped.
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Tim 3:16‭-‬17 NIV
Flourishing Faith strives to encourage and inspire young women to spend more and meaningful time studying and delving deeper into God’s Word and in doing so that they might be like a tree planted by streams of water, so that they will bud and flourish and yield good fruit.
Flourishing Faith’s entire range of Scripture and Bible study Journals, Prayer Journals and other Bible study tools are all developed, designed and manufactured locally, in sunny South Africa.

As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
Isaiah 55:10-11 NIV (please read 1-13)

But whose delight is in the law of the Lord and who meditates on his law day and night.
That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither — whatever they do prospers.
Psalm 1:2-3

Please, I urge you to always go and read all scripture quoted or mentioned in this post.

“We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.”
Colossians 1:9‭-‬10 NLT
